Moses King and the King's Handbooks

Moses King was an editor and published who produce guidebook and travel books for various destinations. He began publishing guidebooks in Boston in 1878 while still in college. In 1894 he moved his company to New York City and continued publishing there.

He published 'Handbooks' of Boston, Harvard University, Springfield, New York City, Philadelphia, Cincinatti OH, Providence RI as well as shorter guides to a wide variety of other locales and tourist spots.

One of the more colorful stories of Mr King is that he was sued for $10,000 by Arthur G. Massey, a photographer who worked for him. According to Massey, they got into a fight during a business meeting and King pulled out a portion of Mr. Massey's beard.
